FEBU Oral Examination

The FEBU Oral Examination is a one day examination.

  • Each candidate will be given 3 clinical cases; cases are of equal difficulty for all examinees.
  • Examination sessions are performed by one examiner and one observer and last maximum 55 minutes per candidate.
  • The examination is offered in eleven languages. Candidates can choose from the following ones: Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Portuguese or Spanish.
  • Presentation of the FEBU Diplomas at the end of the day.
  • The FEBU oral examination is a formal part of the exit examinations in Poland and Hungary. Respective urologists should register through their national societies.

Date: Saturday 2 June 2012
Time: Between 08:00 - 19:00 hrs
Venues: Brussels, Budapest and Warsaw

  • Brussels: examinations conducted in the Dutch, Danish, French, German, Greek, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese languages.
  • Budapest: examinations conducted in the Hungarian language.
  • Warsaw: examinations conducted in the Polish and English languages*.

* English examination sessions are initially scheduled to be performed in Warsaw. Depending on the number of candidates, additional English examination sessions may be scheduled in Brussels. Candidates sitting the examination in English will be informed about the city of examination mid-March 2012. Personal preferences cannot be taken into consideration. All applicants accepted to sit the examination will receive details about the venue in advance.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants who passed the FEBU written examination and meet one of the following criteria can register:

  • Final year residents being trained in a UEMS/EBU member country
  • Certified urologists holding a national board certificate issued in:

    • a UEMS/EBU member country.
    • a non UEMS/EBU member country; applicants from non UEMS/EBU member countries must have passed the FEBU Written Examination in 2007 or 2008.

The time between the FEBU written examination and the oral examination may not exceed five years.

UEMS/EBU applicants are:

  • Urologists certified in a UEMS/EBU member country and final year residents trained in a UEMS/EBU member country,
  • who Work and live in an UEMS/EBU member country.

Fees

  • Applicants from UEMS/EBU member countries: EUR 400.
  • Applicants (residents) currently being trained in an EBU Certified Centre: EUR 300.
  • Applicants from non UEMS/EBU member countries: EUR 600.

 

Application procedure

1. Online registration

  • Registrations have to be completed through the EBU online registration system between 1 December 2011 and 1 February 2012.
  • The registration can be done by the participant only! Online registrations done by third parties (e.g. a sponsoring company) will not be processed.

The online registration system gives the following debtor and payment options:

  • To finalise the registration procedure make sure to click the “Finish” button;
  • The applicant automatically receives an e-mail confirming that the online registration was successful.

2. Submission of required documents
To complete the application procedure, hard copies of the following documents must be delivered by post at the EBU office.

  • A copy of valid passport or identity card
  • The EBU Logbook (copy  to be presented at the examination)
  • Curriculum Vitae (in English - max 2 A4 pages)
  • 1 passport sized photograph
  • Proof of status:
    • Urologists: a photocopy of their national board certificate (in English).
      Additionally, applicants may be requested to submit proof of having completed a training in urology of minimum five years;
    • Residents: an original EBU statement that confirms that they are in the final year of the European Residency Training Programme in Urology.

Monday 13 February 2012:
Delivery deadline required documents at the EBU office. Documents received after this deadline or submitted by e-mail or fax cannot be accepted.

Early March 2012:
All applicants are informed about the status of their application. Those applicants who meet the eligibility criteria and are selected to sit the examination receive:

  • A confirmation letter (indicating the name & address of the venue where the candidate is registered to sit the examination).
  • An invoice for the examination fee.

3. Payment examination fee
Participation can only be guaranteed when the full examination fee is received in time.

  • Credit card payment: Applicants who choose this payment option do not need to take any action. The EBU will charge the applicants credit card before the due date (stated on the invoice).
  • Bank transfer: Applicants who choose to pay by bank transfer will need to credit the EBU account before the due date (stated on the invoice).

Mid April 2012:
Candidates will receive more detailed information, including the time of their examination session. Personal preferences for the time of examination cannot be considered.

Cancellation Procedure

  • In case of a cancellation, the EBU Office should be duly notified in writing.
  • The EBU reserves the right to cancel registrations of applicants not meeting the application criteria before the indicated deadline. A general cancellation fee of € 30 will be invoiced.
  • Failure to pay the participant’s fee before the indicated deadline will automatically lead to a cancellation by the EBU Office. A general cancellation fee of € 30 will be invoiced.
  • A cancellation fee of EUR 100 is applicable when the written cancellation is received on or before May 1st. In this case the examination fee minus the cancellation fee will be refunded.
  • There will be no refund in case the written cancellation is received after May 1st.
  • Cancelled registrations are not automatically carried over to the next examination year.
  • In exceptional circumstances the Board may decide to deviate from this procedure.

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED
