FEBU Written Examination
The FEBU Written Examination is a multiple choice question (MCQ) examination covering the whole field of urology, including basic science.
- The examination consists of 150 MCQs which must be completed within two and a half (2.5) hours.
- The examination is offered in English. Exceptions are made for residents for whom the exam is mandatory; Austrian and Swiss candidates take the exam in German, Polish candidates in Polish and Hungarian candidates in Hungarian.
- The passing score is determined by the EBU Examination Committee and depends on the average score of the total group.
- Examination results will be forwarded by postal mail. Successful participants of the FEBU written examination receive a Certificate.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants meeting the following criteria can register:
- Final year residents being trained in a UEMS/EBU member country (see overview).
- Certified urologists.
Furthermore the following matters are of importance for the application procedure:
- Certified urologist holding a national board certificate issued in a non UEMS/EBU member country are no longer eligible for the FEBU Oral Examination. Only those candidates who have passed the FEBU Written Examination in, or before 2008, can apply for the FEBU Oral Examination.
- Final year residents from the United Kingdom and Ireland need to be on an official training programme; applicants trained in the United Kingdom must indicate their national training number on the statement.
Dates & Cities
- Wednesday 8 September 2010 from 13h30 - 16h00 in Prague.
(Registration open to EUREP participants only).
Registration period: 14 June up to and including 8 August 2010. - Saturday 20 November 2010 from 14h30 – 17h00 at several locations in Europe.
Registration period: 14 June up to and including 1 October 2010.
Locations
Potential locations for the examination on 20 November 2010 are Amsterdam, Athens, Berlin, Genua (Italian residents only), Istanbul , Linz, Lisbon, London, Luzern, Paris, and Warsaw. The minimum number of candidates for one location is 5, otherwise applicants will be requested to take the examination in another city.
Fees
- FEBU Written 8 September 2010
- Applicants from UEMS/EBU member countries: EUR 300.
- Applicants from non UEMS/EBU member countries: EUR 450.
- FEBU Written 20 November 2010
- Applicants from UEMS/EBU member countries: EUR 400.
- Applicants (residents) currently in training at an EBU Certified RTPU: EUR 300.
- Applicants from non UEMS/EBU member countries: EUR 600.
UEMS/EBU applicants
- Urologists certified in a UEMS/EBU member country and final year residents trained in a UEMS/EBU member country, who
- Work in an UEMS member country.
Application procedure
Please follow these steps to apply for the EBU Examination in Urology:
Step 1. Register
Register your application in the EBU Online Registration System.
- You can choose to pay with a credit card or by bank transfer (you will not be charged at this point);
- To submit the data and to finalise the registration procedure make sure to press the “Finish” button;
- You will then receive an automatically generated e-mail confirming that your registration in the system was successful.
Step 2. Submit documents
After registration, please submit the required documents. All the documents must be sent in hard copy by regular mail and received at the EBU office before the indicated deadline.
Urologists are required to submit
- a photocopy of their national board certificate (in English);
- a photocopy of the national passport or identity card.
Additionally, applicants may be requested to submit proof of having completed a minimum training in urology for five years.
Residents are required to submit
- a statement to confirm that they are in the final year of the European Residency Training Programme in Urology;
- a photocopy of the national passport or identity card.
Step 3. Complete payment
Once the documents are reviewed and the application is approved you will receive the confirmation of eligibility and the invoice covering the examination fee;
- If you indicated credit card as your preferred payment method, you do not need to take any action and you will be charged within three weeks from the date of invoice;
- If you indicated bank transfer as your preferred payment method, you will need to make the payment within three weeks from the date of invoice. Please indicate invoice number when you make the payment.
Participation can only be guaranteed when the examination fee is paid in time. Before registering, please read the registration procedure above.
